About Venice Summer Surf Camp 2026
Venice Beach is home to a historic and rich surf culture. Our summer camp is located south of the Venice Pier towards Marina Del Rey, making for a quieter and less crowded pocket of the beach that still has great waves.
A typical day at Sunrise Surf Academy in Venice includes: 9:00 - 9:15 am Drop off at the south end of the Venice Pier parking lot.
Our Venice location features an easy drop-off booth located at the southern end of the Venice Pier parking lot off Washington Blvd. Here our beach captain will greet you.
9:00 - 9:15 am Team building exercises and games.
9:30 - 10:00 am Dynamic land lessons, about one of the following topics:
1. Surfing techniques
2. Ocean safety
3. Surf etiquette
4. Environmental sustainability
5. Oceanography
10:00 - 12:00 pm Let's go surfing!
Surf sessions will vary depending on age, ocean conditions, and the experience level of the camper. Many students will have one-on-one instruction, while others will receive advanced coaching. There will always be an option to play beach games or swim with other campers and instructors.
12:00 - 1:00 pm Lunch... Yummy!
1:00 - 2:30 pm Second Surf session!
2:30 - 2:45 pm Pack up. Leave the beach cleaner than we found it.
2:45 - 3:00 pm Pick up at the south end of the Venice Pier Beach Parking Lot. Please come check-out your child with the beach captain. If you are running late please call or text the office or beach captain.

Capping the size of our camp allows us to maintain this ratio and high-quality counselors, ensuring your kid gets the best possible camp experience. Our ratio and size allow for personalized instruction fostering deeper connections with peers, the ocean and our instructors.

Our Venice easy drop-off booth is located at the southern end of the Venice Pier parking lot. You enter the lot from Washington Blvd going southbound. If you plan on solely dropping off, entrance into the parking lot is free as long as you say you are dropping off for Sunrise Surf Academy. If you plan on staying to have a beach day please pay to park. Once in the lot turn left to head south. We are located at the most southern end of the parking lot. We ask kindly that you check-in with our beach captain on your first day to confirm our records and meet us. For pick-up please check-out with the beach captain every day in the same location where you dropped off. If your child is going to be picked up by someone else not indicated on the booking or early at the beach, please let your beach captain know. If you are running late please call or text the office or beach captain.

We are located at the Driftwood Tower.
We are all the way at the south end of the lot. Make a left when you enter and go all the way to the end.
Absolutely! We have tons of kids that participate in morning activities then join us for a PM Half Day. We kindly ask you to give us a heads up so we can send an instructor over to bring your child to camp.
For our Venice Camp, access to the lot is via Washington Blvd. Putting in Sunrise Surf Academy Venice or the Venice Fishing Pier on your map app of choice will get you to us.
Of course! Fridays we encourage parents to come watch their children's week long surf progress in the AM surf session from 10-12. But all other times are welcome. We do ask that you maintain some distance to allow our instructors to work.
From our Venice Location it is around 20 minutes to Culver City and around 10 to Santa Monica.
Extended hours of care are offered daily from 6:00 am-9:00 am and 3:15 pm-6:30 pm. Extended care is $30 an hour if booked ahead of time. If you need extended care the day of, the hourly rate is $40 and it is subject to our availability. To book in advance please contact us.
Order through our site’s lunch page or during camp registration. You can order anytime before midnight the night before and can choose from three rotating menu options daily, each crafted to keep kids energized and happy.
