About Palisades Summer Surf Camp 2026
Our Pacific Palisades summer surf camp is located just north of Lifeguard Tower 17 at Will Rogers State Beach. The waves are great for both beginners and advanced surfers, with summer consisting of small rolling waves.
A typical day at Sunrise Surf Academy at Pacific Palisades includes: 9:00 - 9:15 am Drop off at the south end of the Temescal Will Rogers beach parking lot.
Our Palisades location features an easy drop-off booth located at the southern end of the Will Rogers State Beach Temescal parking lot. At the most southern end of the lot, our beach captain will greet you.
9:00 - 9:15 am Team building exercises and games.
9:30 - 10:00 am Dynamic land lessons, about one of the following topics:
1. Surfing techniques
2. Ocean safety
3. Surf etiquette
4. Environmental sustainability
5. Oceanography
10:00 - 12:00 pm Let's go surfing!
Surf sessions will vary depending on age, ocean conditions, and the experience level of the camper. Many students will have one-on-one instruction, while others will receive advanced coaching. There will always be an option to play beach games or swim with other campers and instructors.
12:00 - 1:00 pm Lunch... Yummy!
1:00 - 2:30 pm Second Surf session!
2:30 - 2:45 pm Pack up. Leave the beach cleaner than we found it.
2:45 - 3:00 pm Pick up at the south end of the Temescal Will Rogers beach parking lot. Please come check-out your child with the beach captain. If you are running late please call or text the office or beach captain.

Capping the size of our camp allows us to maintain this ratio and high-quality counselors, ensuring your kid gets the best possible camp experience. Our ratio and size allow for personalized instruction fostering deeper connections with peers, the ocean and our instructors.

Our Palisades easy drop-off booth is located at the southern end of the Will Rogers State Beach Temescal Parking Lot (or Will Rogers Lot 1). You can enter the lot from any direction, north or south bound along with access from Temescal. If you plan on solely dropping off, entrance into the parking lot is free as long as you say you are dropping off for Sunrise Surf Academy. If you plan on staying to have a beach day please pay to park. Once in the lot turn left to head south. We are located at the most southern end of the parking lot. Look out for an orange canopy signaling our drop-off booth. It should say Sunrise Surf Academy. We ask kindly that you check-in with our beach captain on your first day to confirm our records and meet us. For pick-up please check-out with the beach captain every day in the same location where you dropped off. If your child is going to be picked up by someone else not indicated on the booking or early at the beach, please let your beach captain know. If you are running late please call or text the office or beach captain.

We are all the way at the furthest southern end of the lot. Keep driving past the Lifeguard HQ to see our orange canopy.
Yes, we have access via a beach ramp and tons of spacious parking.
Absolutely! We have tons of kids that participate in morning activities then join us for a PM Half Day. We kindly ask you to give us a heads up so we can send an instructor over to bring your child to camp.
From any direction. You can turn into the Will Rogers Beach Parking lot coming north or south bound or for eastern access use Temescal. Coming from the Palisades or the Palisades Village we would recommend using Temescal.
Of course! Fridays we encourage parents to come watch their children's week long surf progress in the AM surf session from 10-12. But all other times are welcome. We do ask that you maintain some distance to allow our instructors to work.
From Will Rogers Tower 15 to the Palisades Village is around 15 minutes with a new quicker road slated for completion at the end of this summer cutting down the drive time to 5 minutes.
Extended hours of care are offered daily from 6:00 am-9:00 am and 3:15 pm-6:30 pm. Extended care is $30 an hour if booked ahead of time. If you need extended care the day of, the hourly rate is $40 and it is subject to our availability. To book in advance please contact us.
Order through our site’s lunch page or during camp registration. You can order anytime before midnight the night before and can choose from three rotating menu options daily, each crafted to keep kids energized and happy.
