Custom pods are entirely customizable. We will work with you to create a magical experience tailored to your needs. All activities, dates, and hours are entirely up to you.
A Typical Day
9:00 - 9:30 am Drop off will be at the Will Rogers parking lot 1 off Entrada and PCH or the far south end of the Venice Pier Public Parking Lot depending on which location you choose.
9:15 - 9:45 am Pod building exercises and games.
9:45 - 10:15 am Dynamic land lessons, about one of the following topics:
1. Surfing techniques
2. Ocean safety
3. Surf etiquette
4. Environmental sustainability
5. Oceanography
10:15 - 12:15 pm Let's go surfing!
Surf sessions will vary depending on age, ocean conditions, and experience level of the camper. Many students will have one-on-one instruction, while others will receive advanced coaching. With our instructors monitoring there will always be an option for beach games or swimming during the session as well.
12:15 - 1:00 pm Lunch... Yummy!
1:00 - 2:30 pm Second Surf session!
2:30 - 2:45 pm Pack up. Leave the beach cleaner than we found it.
2:45 - 3:00 pm Pick up will be at the same location as drop off.
Extended hours of care are available if requested in advance.
Surf With Us
We are committed to creating a safe camp experience that is flexible to the needs of the parents and campers. Custom pods were created in response to Covid-19 to allow groups of children in the same bubble to safely have essential summer camp experiences in a private outdoor setting. Custom pods will have the same instructors every day to provide personalized instruction, form valuable bonds with campers, and create personalized, private instruction. Custom pods can be located in the Pacific Palisades at Will Rogers State Beach, Marina del Rey, or Venice Beach.
Our summer surf camp curriculum was designed in consultation with experts in child development psychology, 3 generations' worth of experience operating summer camps, and over a decade of experience specifically in surf camps. Sunrise Surf Academy prides itself on the quality and quantity of the instructors. Our instructors have completed a rigorous water safety program, including training from top L.A. County lifeguards. Additionally, our counselors have CPR and First Aid certifications from the Red Cross.
